It is so exciting that the weather is changing! I love the advent of Spring, especially after one of the DARKEST Winters in recent memory. It was SO dark! We’ve just had SUMMER in April with a couple of days in the mid-70s!! So nice.
I am moving along with my recovery from ACL reconstruction surgery and have been cleared to go to the driving range!! Believe me, I have been going, and it feels so good!
I’ve also been focusing even more on the putting aspect of my game. If you haven’t heard the saying, “You drive for show, but you putt for dough,” it’s SO true! In golf, each swing of the club counts as a stroke/point in the score, with the goal to have as low a score as possible. Most courses are set up with the score expectation allowing two putts per green. So, if you end up with 3–5+ putts as I have (yikes!), concentrating on improving putting will improve the score very quickly.
My best score so far has been 119 on 18 holes. My goal is to break 100 by Labor Day! A lofty goal, but I believe (there’s my 2021 word) it’s doable. Just think: if I can shave 2-3 putts off each hole, that could do it right there!! Wish me luck, and I’ll keep you posted. If you golf and have any tips for me, please let me know!
It’s interesting how the concept of discipline with a small thing applied over and over can hugely change outcomes. My business coach had me read a book called Pound the Stone by Joshua Medcalf, and it was all about this idea. Basically, the blow that breaks the stone is not likely the first blow. In fact, it probably isn’t even the 100th blow, but it takes striking again and again to break it. I believe that in applying this to my golf game, I will dramatically improve my game. What area of your life would this apply to?
